"...Old Shekla is said to have crossed seas with the chief Ta'halley's grandfather when whale reef trolls decided to leave their native villages on the slopes of a dying volcano. If that’s true, she is holding up pretty well for her age. Local trolls believe that Shekla feeds off through a connection to spirits, and respect her as a good healer. Old Shekla lives in isolation, enjoying the company of stuffed animals and talismans. Even the chief doesn’t allow himself to interfere in her affairs. Only the ritual bowls with animal blood and the cold voices, ringing out from her hut in the night, don’t pose old Shekla as lonely as she might seem at first glance... "
